This Week/Christian Climate Action/Monday 7 October, 11.30am-2pm, Faith Bridge: a multi-faith site on Lambeth Bridge. Tearfund, Christian Aid, CAFOD and other NGOs are coming to Lambeth Bridge to pray for Climate Action. All are welcome to join them in prayer.

Next Sunday/Welcome Course. If you are new to St Martin’s over the past 12 months and would like to find out what we are about and have a chance to make some friends who are also new, you are very welcome to join a five-week Welcome Course run by the clergy from 13 October to 10 November between 12-1.30pm following the Sunday Parish Eucharist in Revd Sally Hitchiner’s flat. Building Futures starting work. 5 and 6 St Martin’s Place are now undergoing substantial redecorating and restorative works. Due to these, there will be no parking on Church Path until the end of February 2020. More information is available in the Pipeline.

Morning Song. St Martin’s has created a brand new service of weekly sung morning prayer which takes place every Thursday at 8.30am. A beautiful 30-minute sequence of words, prayers and music sung by St Martin’s Voices, led by Revd Sally Hitchiner.

Theology Group/Sunday 27 October, 12-1pm, Austen Williams Room. There will be an opportunity to reflect theologically on issues of the day and questions of forever with Revd Dr Sam Wells. All are welcome. Future dates: 17 Nov, 8 Dec.

JPIC Meeting. The next meeting of the Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation group will take place on Tuesday 29 October from 7-8.30pm in the Desmond Tutu Room. All interested in current issues of Social Justice and how we might respond as a community are welcome.

Great Sacred Choral Classics/Monday 28 October, 6.30pm, Church. This is a very special opportunity to support our Choir, as they perform the world premiere of an anthem by David Bednall. It has been commissioned by Douglas Board, a member of our congregation, and David Bednall will join us. The concert is free with a retiring collection – bring a friend and folding money.

The changing monthly display by St Martin’s artists’ and craftspeople’s group in the Foyer of the Crypt for October is by Alice Bree. Each month a different member of the group or artists linked to it will show examples of their work, so do look regularly to see the changing display.

Christmas Appeal. With the 2019 Christmas Appeal approaching, all at the St Martin-in-the-Fields Charity wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who made it possible to raise £3.48m in last year’s campaign. In the last year, almost 6000 people were supported through our Vicar’s Relief Fund and over 2600 people were supported away from homelessness by The Connection at St Martin’s. This was only possible because of the help from our donors. We hope to continue in this outstanding path with the new Appeal, which will be launching soon.

Theology Reading Group/Wednesday 27 November, 8-9.30pm. We will be meeting in the Desmond Tutu Room to read Resident Aliens, by Stanley Hauerwas and William H. Willimon. Copies are available at the Shop at St Martin’s for £16.99 (Abingdon Press; 1st Edition 1989).

Christmas Gala Evening/Wednesday 4 December. The evening will see a glittering revival of Vaughan Williams The First Nowell. This nativity was written especially for St Martin’s in 1958 and will be followed by a Christmas party with celebrity entertainment and a silent auction.
