Today/No C-Club. Today there is no children’s programme, following from C-Club’s adventures yesterday at the Parish Away Day. C-Club will be back on Sunday 22 July.

Today/Prayers for Healing with anointing and laying on of hands are offered by our healing team at the 10.00am service each Sunday morning at the front of the church near the altar.

Today/Meeting of artists and craftspeoples’ group/12 noon, Tuto Room. Meeting to plan further artistic contributions to the St Martin’s community. All are welcome.

Summer pattern of services. Bread For the World will continue through the summer at 6.3opm on Wednesday with a soloist but the supper and groups will take a break, resuming on 5 September. Until the end of August Mondays at 4.30pm will be a service of Evening Prayer in the DSC and our Wednesday 1pm Eucharist will be a said service. Sacred Space takes a break in August and resumes on Sunday 2 September at 7pm.

This week/Sibyl Allen’s Funeral/Wednesday 18 July, 11am, St Martin-in-the-Fields. The service will be followed by a reception at 6 St Martin’s Place in the Austen Williams Room and George Richards Room during which time Sibyl’s coffin will rest in St Martin’s Church. All are welcome to join us for the service and the reception. Hats may be worn! Sibyl’s Coffin will then leave St Martin’s for Hither Green Crematorium where there will be a short service for her family.

Calling all cricketers in the congregation, the St. Martins in the Field Cricket Team is looking for players for the following dates: 18th July (against the Caribs XI) and 5th August (against the Choir!). Equally, you are more than welcome to come along and support the team! Next week/Faith and LGBT: Building Bridges in a Polarised World/Wednesday 25 July, 6.30pm, Leicester Cathedral. Inclusive Church’s annual lecture will be given by Ruth Hunt, CEO Stonewall. This month/The changing monthly display by the artists and craftspeoples group in the Foyer of the Crypt for July is by Ruth Hutchinson. Each month a different member of the group or artists linked to it will show examples of their work, so do look regularly to see the changing display.

Coming Up/St Luke’s Day Liturgy Workshop/Sunday 29 July, 12-1pm, Austen Williams Room. Disability Advisory Group and Healing Team members will be writing parts of the St Luke’s Day service, in a workshop led by Sam Wells. We hope to deepen our understanding of disability and of healing as we prepare this annual Eucharist and Healing Service together. All are welcome to join us. Coming Up/Support our St Martin-in-the-Fields Choir/September. The Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields are travelling to South Africa in September for a ten-day tour of exciting choral collaboration in support of an important new project to help disadvantaged young South Africans gain access to higher education. They will sing alongside the choirs of the Cathedral Church of St Mary the Virgin in central Johannesburg, the famous Holy Cross Church in Soweto, and St John’s Anglican College and the University of Johannesburg. Our choir contribute so much to the life of St Martin’s – let’s help them to raise the final £5000. First Sheppard Scholar/Many congratulations to Georgie Illingworth who has been appointed as the first Sheppard Scholar – our new Pastoral Assistant scheme for HeartEdge churches – at St Martin’s, and who will begin working in that role from September.

Pastoral Assistant/Francesco Aresco has been appointed Pastoral Assistant from September 2018. Francesco is Italian. He studied for an MA in Classics at University College London. For the last year he has been Pastoral Assistant at St Michael’s Camden Town.
