A Direction of Travel
The Conversation is a series of weekly events talking about conflict and empathy, inequality and power, climate crisis and wonder through storytelling and action. The first half of the evening is an interview, which is followed by the host and guest joining the audience around tables to take the conversation further. Everyone is welcome.
Robert Macfarlane won the inaugural Weston International Award for “writing about humans, landscapes and the living world, seeking new understandings of relations between people and nature”. His multi-award-winning books include The Lost Words, Mountains of the Mind, The Old Ways, The Wild Places, Holloway, Ness and Underland: A Deep Time Journey. He has recently been collaborating with musician Johnny Flynn on an album and tour – The Moon Also Rises.
He talks about language and nature, walking, water and the power of protest and advocacy.
