Spencer Klymyshyn (piano)
Friday 11 July 2025
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
A dynamic exploration of 20th-century piano repertoire from works of late Romanticism to the Chaconne by the now 93 year old composer Sofia Gubaidulina – opening the programme with bold intensity. Rachmaninov’s selected Preludes follow, with his signature lyricism, virtuosic flair, and rich harmonic language and we finish with Prokofiev’s Sonata No.4. Restrained and introspective and more reminiscent of Schumann and Brahms, its inspiration belongs, in a real sense, to the first decade of the century.

Op. 32 No. 10 in B minor
