Monteverdi Choir & Orchestras: Schubert Octet & Songs

Friday 22 November 2024

7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Beautiful world, where are you?

Andrew Staples, one of the most sought-after tenors of his generation, joins members of the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, who bring their ‘astonishing collective virtuosity’ (Bachtrack) to bring fresh perspectives to the music of Franz Schubert.

In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Schubert’s Octet, this masterpiece—rich with references to his own songs—will be interwoven his settings of Goethe and Schiller, exploring themes of love, loss, and peace.

These Lieder will be heard as never before: with the piano parts arranged for the same period instruments of the Octet, illuminated anew by musicians renowned for ‘performances of radiant intensity and commitment…with an electric crackle of excitement tempered by virtuosic swagger’ (ArtsDesk).
