Sasha Canter & Rustam Khanmurzin (trumpet & piano)
Friday 28 March 2025
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The spirit of romance is alive and well in Sasha Canter’s programme of transcriptions of beautiful melodies: from Clara Schumann’s songs, Dvorak’s romantic pieces to the Fantaisie on Rossini’s Cinderella. Martinů’s Sonatine for Trumpet exemplifies the influence of Stravinsky, Debussy and jazz music. The piece is excitingly virtuosic in its use of complex rhythms, chromaticism, and ensemble between the trumpet and piano.
