Jelena Horvat and Svitlana Kosenko (violin and piano)

Friday 07 February 2025

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

This programme features an exciting mix of violin and piano works that highlight contrasting styles and expressive depths. Enescu’s Ménétrier reflects the spirit of a lively village fiddler, with its folk-inspired rhythms and characterful phrasing and the folk element is explored further in the third sonata. Ravel’s Violin Sonata No.1 combines early lyricism with harmonic innovation, hinting at the composer’s later stylistic developments and we end the concert with Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso – a display of dazzling virtuosity.
