The Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) makes its debut performance at St Martin-in-the-Fields under the baton of its Founder & Artistic Director, Dionysis Grammenos. Opening with Vaughan Williams’ captivating Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, the programme also features Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst, as well as Beethoven’s energetic Symphony No. 2. Alongside the orchestra, world-renowned violinist and First Concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker, Noah Bendix-Balgley, joins as soloist in Mendelssohn’s lyrical Violin Concerto in E minor. Following celebrated performances in major venues in Europe and the USA, this concert by the GYSO showcases the virtuosity and passion of its rising young Greek talents.
