Edward Picton-Turbervill and Harriet Burns (keyboard and soprano)
Friday 16 May 2025
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Explore a programme blending old and new; some of Schubert’s most beloved songs sit alongside new works by up-and-coming British composer Edward Picton-Turbervill. Soprano Harriet Burns soars in Edward’s spectacular arrangement of Hildegard of Bingen, and the concert ends with his mystical cycle, Poems of the Sky, settings texts by Rilke. In between, prepare to be entertained by Barber’s Hermit Songs, where the composer sets wonderfully weird marginalia from Medieval manuscripts in a riotous collection of short songs.
