The All-Female London Gay Big Band is a sensational all-female jazz orchestra formed in 2021 in partnership with Women in Jazz Media and the London Gay Big Band for the EFG London Jazz Festival. Comprising of predominantly LGBTQ+ musicians, this exciting and rarely seen line up adds a refreshing, vibrant touch to the London music scene.
Led by trumpet and flugelhorn player, Charlotte Keeffe, and vocalist Lara De Belder, The London Gay Big Band was founded in 2011, and has garnered attention through their impressive performances ever since.
They have graced renowned events such as the EFG London Jazz Fest and London Pride, and have performed at notable venues in London and internationally, including; Ronnie Scott’s, BST Hyde Park Festival, Southbank Centre, and Trafalgar Square.
In 2014, The London Gay Big Band reached the Semi Finals of Britain’s Got Talent, captivating a television audience of 7 million viewers. Their talent and energy earned them praise from notable figures like David Walliams.
With their recent album releases, “FREEDOM” and “BRAVE,” recorded at Abbey Road Studios, The London Gay Big Band showcases the skills of esteemed vocalists from the realms of Jazz and the West End, including; Liane Carroll, Lara de Belder, Ian Shaw, Clare Teal, Claire Martin, and Emma Hatton.
