Brahms and Schubert: Piano Solos and Duos

Friday 20 September 2024

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Brothers Sasha and Alexei Grynyuk take the stage as soloists and in duet in a programme highlighting the emotional depth and technical brilliance of the Romantic era. Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, Op.23 pays homage to his friend and mentor, transforming a simple melody into a series of intricate and expressive variations – while the Rhapsody in B Minor, further showcases Brahms’ dramatic flair and lyrical prowess. Schubert’s Impromptu in C Minor and Lebensstürme provide a striking contrast, with the former’s stormy and lyrical themes and the latter’s passionate, dynamic interplay for four-hand piano.
