Performers
Australian violinist Emily Sun is rapidly gaining international recognition as a rising soloist. She was awarded the Gold Medal of the 2016 Royal Overseas League Music Competition UK, the first violinist to win the award since 1981.
She is the winner of all major Australian violin competitions, including the coveted Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year Strings Award, and has won all available prizes at the Royal College of Music. She is a prizewinner in many international competitions including Yampolsky International Violin Competition (Russia), Bromsgrove International Competition (UK), Royal-Overseas-League Music Competition (UK) Brahms International Competition (Austria) and Lipizer International Violin Competition (Italy). She was selected as a Young Concert Artist for The Tillett Trust (2016) and Making Music (2017) UK.
Emily won the category of ‘Best Newcomer’ in Australia’s classical arts ‘Limelight Magazine Awards’, as the lead role in acclaimed feature-length documentary ‘Mrs Carey’s Concert’. The documentary was the longest running documentary in Australian cinema history and has been shown in film festivals across the world to acclaimed reviews.
She made her concerto debut with the East-West Philharmonic Orchestra at age 10, and has since been a regular soloist with symphony orchestras in Australia, Russia, China and USA.
Emily is a BBC Introducing Artist, and her performances have been broadcast on ABC Classic FM (Australia), BBC Radio 3 (UK), Kol Hamusica (Israel), and WXQR (USA). She has performed as soloist in international venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Jersey Opera House, Tchaikovsky Great Hall Moscow, Tel Aviv Israeli Opera House, Auditorium du Louvre Paris and London’s Cadogan Hall, Wigmore Hall and Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall. In addition, she performed Bach Double Violin Concerto with Maxim Vengerov for the 2017 Royal Gala hosted by HRH Prince of Wales in Buckingham Palace.
Emily is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music studying with Itzhak Rashkovsky as a Dasha Shenkman Scholar, and is also an Artist-in-Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel Belgium under the guidance of Augustin Dumay.
Maria Tarasewicz has already gained an enviable international reputation as a chamber musician, duo partner and a pedagogue. The depth and quality of Maria’s credentials can be judged through the collaborations she has had with many great international artists, including Ivry Gitlis, Maxim Vengerov, Gavriel Lipkind, Dora Schwarzberg, Leonid Kerbel, Truls Mørk, Vladimir Perlin, Leonid Gorokhov, Gabriele Ragghianti, Itamar Golan, Paul Gulda, Paul Badura-Skoda and Hogon Austbo.
She is also committed to working with and developing younger artists, and her invitations not only as a performer but also as a teacher and accompanist have taken her to many international musical festivals including Summeracademy Voksenåsen in Norway, Jersey International Masterclass and Festival, Musica Mundi in Belgium, V Music Home Festival in Guangzhou in China, Lucca Festival in Italy, the Stavanger Youth Chamber Festival in Norway and the Three Choirs Festival in England. Maria has performed in all of London major concert venues including Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Royal Albert Hall and many others. She also appears regularly on BBC Radio 3.
One of Maria’s current projects is the initiative of cofounding The Thinking Musician©, the platform organising summer music courses combining music as art, philosophy, intellectual provocations and speaking of the artist’s role in world.
Maria began her studies first in Ukraine and then Poland. In 2008 she moved to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under Boyan Vodenitcharov and Eugene Moguilevsky, and then to the Royal Academy of Music in London with Michael Dussek.
