Roberto Rúmenov (piano)

Friday 04 October 2024

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Two of Chopin’s best-loved masterpieces form the romantic heart of this beautiful programme of music for solo piano. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in G sharp minor encapsulate his intricate contrapuntal style and harmonic richness, perfectly offsetting the sparkling virtuosity of the Scarlatti Sonata. Haydn’s musical wit is at play in his E flat sonata and the programme ends with Ravel’s Spanish-influenced Alborada del gracioso.

Bach – Prelude & Fugue G sharp minor from Book I of Well-Tempered Clavier
Scarlatti – Sonata K.491 in D major
Chopin – Scherzo No.4, Op.54 in E major
Haydn – Sonata Hob.XVI No.49 in E flat major
Chopin – Ballade No.3 Op.47 in A flat major
Ravel – Miroirs: IV. Alborada del gracioso
