Performer
Annie Yim performs throughout the UK, Europe and Canada in major international venues. Her playing has been acclaimed as ‘radiantly coloured’ (The Times) and ‘outstanding’ (Stratford Herald), with a wide-ranging repertoire that encompasses canonic works and new music. She has broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, Canadian CBC Radio 2 and Portuguese Radio Antena 2. Her ensemble Minerva Piano Trio have been selected as St John’s Smith Square Young Artists in Residence 2016/17. Born in Hong Kong and grew up in Vancouver, Annie made her London concerto debut playing Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ concerto at LSO St. Luke’s. Annie is grateful for the support of the Concordia Foundation: she was a recipient of the Serena Neville Award as well as the Foundation’s inaugural mentorship scheme. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and completed her research on Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms at the Guildhall School of Music with Joan Havill and City University London with Dr. Christopher Wiley. She received her Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours at the University of British Columbia while studying with Robert Silverman. Annie is founder of MusicArt London, with projects in 2017 including a collaboration at a Berlin art gallery, and a keynote concert and dialogue at an international, multi-disciplinary conference at the University of Surrey.
